After completing a degree in Accountancy in Birmingham, I headed for the bright lights of London to work in insurance and structured finance in the City. Over time it became clear that the creative side of my brain was having much more fun than the analytical side, so I moved into marketing roles, ending up as a Development Director responsible for teams in London and New York. Somehow I also found time to do an MBA. After a number of promotions I realised my job was basically political and I wasn’t making anything any more, so in 2005 I made the audacious move to leave and “do my own thing” in the entrepreneurial world of technology startups.
Fast forward a decade or so and I have been involved as a marketing lead and (occasionally) investor in half a dozen startups, from tech-led SaaS through to eLearning and FinTech. It turned out my speciality is in significantly growing small businesses through marketing. I’ve learned a lot along the way and not every venture has been successful, but I am fortunate to have had a good strike rate so far!
After “retiring” to Palma de Mallorca in 2018, I realised my brain needed much more than sun, sea and caña and I was very pleased to meet MoreNiche’s own Andy and Melanie here. MoreNiche is at that exciting growth stage where I can help to skyrocket the business, plus it’s a great team of people to be working with.
Outside of work I’m a keen musician, producing songs for myself and others and I’m also the keyboard player in Autology, an electronic rock band based in Palma.
